This Summer, bring the whole family to Blackberry and let Helen DeFrance bring the excitement of hands-on cooking to your kids as they work through fun recipes everyone back home will love. Born and raised in Jackson, MS, Helen is the fourth child in a family of six children, and she learned cooking from an early age thanks to her grandmother. A graduate of the Master’s program at Pepperdine University with a specialty in Montessori training (a hands-on, experiential teaching method), she combined her two loves, teaching and cooking, and developed a curriculum for kids called “Thyme to Cook!” She is the author of two cookbooks: At Home Café: Gatherings for Family and Friends and At Home Café: Great Food and Fun for Everyone. Her unique approach to cooking with children has been featured on “Martha,” where she cooked with host Martha Stewart, and has been featured in Southern Living, Mississippi magazine, and Delta magazine.
